Thought of the day

A pigeon sits on a branch reflecting on Existence, a yellow leaf falls from the tree.

A man looking at a mountain faraway doesn’t notice the prettiness of a dandelion at his feet.  A man looking at a dandelion doesn’t see the beauty of a mountain faraway.

Indispensable Man

Sometime when you’re feeling important,
Sometime when your ego’s in bloom,
Sometime when you take it for granted
You’re the best qualified in the room;
Sometime when you feel that your going
Would leave an unfillable hole,
Just follow these simple instructions
And see how they humble your soul.

Take a bucket and fill it with water,
Put your hand in it up to the wrist,
Pull it out and the hole that’s remaining
Is a measure of how much you’ll be missed.
You can splash all you wish when you enter
You may stir up the water galore,
But stop and you’ll find that in no time
It looks quite the same as before.

The moral of this quaint example
Is to do just the best that you can.
Be proud of yourself, but remember
There’s no indispensable man.

Musings (3)

“Sometimes we have to be very careful not to hold on to the wrong things.”

In the bigger picture, they are talking about the wrong things in life — pride, guilt, prejudice, blind loyalty…..things that eventually lead to regrets.

For me, it is the little nothings of life.

The idea of downsizing has been sitting quietly in a corner for a while now.  There is a huge obstacle blocking the move forward.  What do we do with all our earthly, sentimental possessions occupying every room of the house?

A suggestion blew in this morning with the autumn breeze.

Instead of trying to figure out what to get rid of, let’s go into each room and focus on the things we want / need to keep and take with us.

I am not sure.  Do you think this is easier?

Musings (1)

“If you don’t understand it
Stand under it.”

Don’t
Jump to conclusions.

Don’t
Run away from it.

Don’t
Dismiss out of hand.

Give peace a chance.
